Amsterdam Panflute Trio was founded in 2021 by Mariana Preda, Cristina Petcu, and Elianne Vuik. Their repertoire ranges from Middle Ages to Contemporary with a focus on newly written works for 3 panflutes as well as showing the versatility of the instrument in other music genres.
Mariana Preda is a Romanian panflute artist based in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.
She studied Classical/Contemporary music at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam with Matthijs Koene where she graduated with a Master’s degree in 2020 in Classical/Contemporary Music.
Mariana won numerous music awards and she took part in many music competitions and festivals such as: IBLA Grand Prize, UNTOLD Festival, Vondelpark Festival, Uitmarkt, Grachten Festival, Prix Annelie de Man, Gaudeamus Festival, Romanian Days.
She performed in various cities around the world and she had her debut at Carnegie Hall in New York in 2019.
Mariana is working closely with composers broadening the contemporary panflute repertoire as well as collaborating with different musicians and ensembles.
Elianne Vuik is 22 years old and comes from Capelle aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. At the end of May 2023, she graduated cum laude with her bachelor’s degree at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, majoring in pan flute. Her teacher at the Conservatory was Matthijs Koene. When Elianne turned 8 she started playing the pan flute. After a year she started lessons with Matthijs Koene. After a few years, Elianne also wanted to take lessons from other pan flute teachers in order to gain a broader education. She did this with Liselotte Rokyta and Henske Bakker. She also followed a masterclass with Nicolai Pirvu.
She was also a member of the pan flute association for a while, where she participated in the pan flute competition and she was also active with an ensemble with a number of amateur pan flutists. In March 2019, Elianne participated in the Princess Christina Competition in Rotterdam. During this competition, she won the Donemus Prize.
Cristina Petcu (*1999) is a pan-flutist and singer born in Brașov, Romania. She started her musical education at the age of 7, as a member of a children’s choir in her hometown. At the age of 11, she started her panflute studies at the Music High School of Brașov. During her music school studies, she played in many concerts in Romanian cities, but also abroad, in countries like France or Germany. She has also won numerous prizes at national music competitions.
Cristina is currently studying panflute in the 2nd year of the master’s program at the Conservatory of Amsterdam, under the guidance of Matthijs Koene. Her interest is mainly focused on the inclusion of the panflute in the chamber music landscape, with repertoire including contemporary works, but also music from Renaissance and Baroque times. Next to her panflute practice, Cristina is also a devoted singer, being involved mostly in choral projects.
Juho Myllylä is a recorder player, guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He studied recorders at the Conservatory of Amsterdam with Jorge Isaac and graduated with a master’s degree in 2020.
Juho works with the world-renowned renaissance recorder ensemble The Royal Wind Music since 2016. With the Finnish Ensemble Gamut! Juho is in constant search for new ways to perform early music through the fusion of medieval and renaissance music, folk music, improvisation and electronics. Their critically acclaimed debut album UT was released on Eclipse Music in 2020, followed by RE in 2022. Juho has also performed solo recitals of new music at such festivals and venues as Grachtenfestival, Gaudeamus, and November Music as well as the prestigious Concertgebouw Amsterdam.
He feels passionate about earlier repertoire – medieval and renaissance music, yet is especially interested in the recorders’ countless possibilities in contemporary and new music and working with composers, with a steadily growing number of new works written for and premiered by him. ed yet.
Daisuke Kanamaru is a Japanese pianist based in Amsterdam.
He graduated summa cum laude at the Codarts University of the Arts in Rotterdam in the second phase of piano studies with a unanimous high assessment by the jury.
Daisuke has participated and performed in several summer courses and Academy concerts in Austria, The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, and Japan. He is forming a duo with panflute player Mariana Preda and they had several performances in The Netherlands as well as in Europe. In 2018 they won IBLA Grand Prize in Sicily, Italy. In 2023 they performed at the Romanian Atheneum in Bucharest, Romania and they recorded their first album called “Echoes”.
